a5c7b9f00b Forced underground by the next ice age, a struggling outpost of survivors must fight to preserve humanity against a threat even more savage than nature.
Groups of people - colonies - are forced underground due to another ice age. Colony 7 goes to check on Colony 5, which they lost contact with. When they get there they find that the colony has fallen and there is a whole new enemy that they have to face on their way back.
I watched this with lots of hopes… But in the end it skunked! Why create such epic backdrops only to just shoot-em up and end the story without ending the story??? Big actors building up their characters only to be killed off in very cheesy cliché ways… IE Lawrence Fishburn blowing himself up on the bridge. Can I also point out how meaningless it would be to have cannibals in a vacuum hole of life. I highly doubt they would so easily leave a food source behind just to chase down our main characters. If food was so scarce to move to cannibalism…. why abandon it??? I'm not putting anymore time into this review than you should in watching it! AVOID!
Watched this movie last nite, sad to see Bill Paxton and Laurence Fisburne in such a terrible event.<br/><br/>It's got so many technical 'holes' in it I won't even go there, many of which have been addressed already in other reviews.<br/><br/>You could easily see that Mason/Paxton would be the renegade turned hero and Fishburne would be the hero, yada, yada…a very predictable event. The Zombies are nothing new now of course, andsuch are a weak attempt to introduce horror and plot to scare you when they could not think of anything else.<br/><br/>The bad ending: OMG, let's just carry some seeds and plant them in the next colony that has a hole in the clouds…<br/><br/>And I love it when it is supposed to be cold and you hardly see their frosty breath outside. Or in the helicopter with holes all around and it seemswarminside a house, etc…etc…<br/><br/>Just another end of the world movie based on a committee plot borrowing from many other ideas…yawn, a really terrible move for some great actors who deserve a lot better!
The Colony is two-thirds of a pretty good sci-fi suspense movie. But it eventually takes a disappointing turn and becomes yet another run-from-the-ghouls exercise, cheapening decent work by a good cast.
